As 2017 winds down, I’m taking some time (and you should too!) to practice gratitude for all the adventures I’ve had this year...even those in my own backyard. It’s so easy to compare yourself to others and then feel second best, so in 2018 I’m going to do my best to break that habit and simply be happy in the present moment. Easier said than done I know! 😂 What is one of your biggest personal goals for 2018?
Ella enjoying the Toboggan dad made her for last year’s Christmas, taking some cousins for a ride as well!
Saturday mornings call for matching pj’s, trains and exchanging ‘I wuv you’s’. . Full disclosure: they played nicely until 0.5 seconds after this picture was snapped when one got mad and tried to break the track. . It’s always nice while it lasts and as they get older, their friendship is starting to outweigh the brotherly fighting. To me, that’s a win. 🚂 . Happy Saturday!
I broke out our family’s traditional Swedish Pepparkakor cookie recipe yesterday, and Scarlett and I baked up a few of the batches. I wasn’t sure how she’d like the strongly spiced cookies, but she seems to be downing them just fine! She’s especially fond of these teeny tiny gingerbread men, who ended up being quite the surprise to me when I received the cookie cutter in the mail! 😂🙈 I have forever learned my lesson to read dimensions of an item before ordering it online! Nonetheless, it sure does smell like Christmas in here!! 🎄
Imagine the conversation over endless cups of coffee and slices of pie. Or maybe the brooding silence, or the cocktails sweating through their glasses, the tired waitresses saying “You ready to order?” one hundred times a day. Twinkling lights of industry and the rocky mountains serving as backdrop, with the fickle and fierce weather now the only thing bringing change to the building.
